Why Isn`t Your Lawn Greening Up Yet? - trial","author":"Village Green Lawn & Landscape","author2":"Village Green Lawn & Landscape","duration":"1:39","description":"We`ve had a cool spring in North Texas, and the soil temperature hasn`t warmed up enough for our lawns to come out of dormancy. As we head into mid-March, we`re getting questions about dormant lawns. People are concerned something went wrong with their lawn`s health. Now that it is officially spring, we should start seeing consistently warmer weather in our area, and our lawns will start greening up in North Texas. Ultimately that is up to Mother Nature, though, and sometimes it can take until mid-to-late April or even early May. The recipe for a healthy lawn is sun, water, and food (fertilizer.) We should add `warm` sun to the list during a cool spring. We are in Texas, though, and we`re confident that warmer weather will be here sooner than we would like! And no matter how great our lawn health plan is, fertilizer won`t fully work until Mother Nature does her part and gives us consistently warmer weather to increase our soil temperatures. If you aren`t currently using Village Green for your lawn`s health, we would love to earn you business. Founded in 1980, we are a family-owned and operated lawn and landscape company. For this preventative to work, it is vital that you properly water your lawn within two weeks of the application. At Village Green, we typically spray a liquid pre-emergent, which comes out in big droplets. When you water within two weeks of our application, it will spread the pre-emergent out and down into your soil, which creates that barrier we are looking for to prevent those weeds. Winter and spring weeds are hard to control once they have come up, so the pre-emergent must be appropriately applied, including this vital watering within two weeks. If you need help controlling weeds in your lawn, Village Green would love to earn your business. Founded in 1980, we are a family-owned and operated lawn and landscape company. ([{"type":"0","id":"XNomuFiXhuU","title":"How to Identify Brown Patch in your St. Augustine Lawn - trial","author":"Village Green Lawn & Landscape","author2":"Village Green Lawn & Landscape","duration":"1:43","description":"Late spring is the time of the year in North Texas when our temperatures are getting warmer, and we get a lot of rain. These conditions can cause Brown Patch in St. Augustine lawns. How do we go about fighting this nasty little fungus that thrives on warm, damp conditions? Prevention is the best bet in spring (in fall, we can treat it with a fungicide.) The good news is that Brown Patch generally only makes your lawn look bad. It won`t kill it. Many people leave Brown Patch untreated, taking steps to prevent it after it goes away. If you want to prevent Brown Patch in your St. Augustine lawn, we recommend the following tips. • Sprinkle in the morning (to avoid water standing overnight.) • Avoid allowing water to puddle in the lawn. • Use a low nitrogen fertilizer in early spring (brown patch fungus feeds on nitrogen.) • Use a preventative such as PCNB before brown Patch occurs. • If you see brown patches in your lawn, spot treat the areas to prevent them from getting larger. • And the best tip? Hire Village Green to handle your fertilization and weed control. Our Signature Fertilization & Weed Control + Insect Protection Plan allows Village Green to be in your yard every month to month and a half. And we`re not just spreading fertilizer on these visits. We are inspecting your lawn and looking for potential problems that we will fix or notify you of to decide how to handle them best. That`s what Village Green does. And why we`ve been in business since 1980. We give you the lawn of your dreams without worry or work so you can concentrate on more important things. ([{"type":"0","id":"0Sjni5LtYAA","title":"Why Isn`t My North Texas Lawn Greening Up this Spring? - trial","author":"Village Green Lawn & Landscape","author2":"Village Green Lawn & Landscape","duration":"2:58","description":"In today`s video, Ken gives a quick spring update on what we see in our fertilization and weed control lawns. A little over a month out from our record-breaking February freeze, most of our lawns are in what we call a tweener stage. There is a little green here and there in some lawns, but most are not out of dormancy yet. Probably only 20% to 30% in our area. That will change over the next few weeks, and we should start seeing the majority of our lawns green up nicely. Our fertilization and weed control plan is not a one-size-fits-all program, so our application is customized specifically for your lawn. That means we pay attention to the conditions and do what will be best for the long-term health of your lawn. Bermuda lawns will get treated with a good nitrogen fertilizer, pushing the grass to green up quicker. St. Augustine lawns get the opposite treatment. A tropical plant, St. Augustine, is typically stressed after our winter months, so we apply a 5/10/31 ratio fertilizer which pushes root growth over top growth. If we pushed top growth to green up the lawn faster, we would be doing the lawn more harm than good in the long run. Root health is vital during these treatments and will pay off in a lush lawn later this year. We are also putting out a pre-emergent on most of our lawns to help prevent spring and summer weeds. If the lawn is stressed, we will forgo the pre-emergent and apply a root stimulating fertilizer that will help the plant green up a little bit now but is really about long-term root health, which will produce a fuller, greener lawn later on this year. At our household, we were lucky, only a few pipe breaks, but we always kept our electricity and water. I know many of you were not as fortunate. In addition to this weather being hard on people, it is especially hard on plants, and I think our lawns. So what will Village Green be doing? In this video, I walk you through the adjustments we will be making with our lawn care program, including some adjustments based on your lawn and this recent weather. At Village Green, we pride ourselves on NOT being a one size fits all lawn care company. Being locally owned and operated, we take pride in delivering quality results. This means we tailor our lawn care plan to your specific lawn based on the situation we are seeing.
