We’ve posted photos from the Village Green Holiday Party held on December 21, 2013.  You can see the entire set
here.  It was a fun and festive way for the Village Green family to end 2013.  We will be closed until January 2nd (except for Xmas light emergencies) so our staff can enjoy the holidays with their family and friends.

Meet the Team: Shelby Hyatt

Founded in 1980 by Ken Hyatt, Village Green is a family owned business that specializes in lawn care, landscaping, fertilization and weed control, sprinkler repair, and mosquito control. During the Holiday Season we also professionally install lights for both business and residential customers.

Ken has always felt that the people behind Village Green are as important as the company itself.  With that in mind he asked the team to answer a few questions in order for our customers to get to know more about the Village Green employees who serve them.

Christmas Lights at our Home Church – Richardson’s Arapaho UMC

The Hyatt family spent several weekends at our home church of Arapaho United Methodist in Richardson installing mini-lights on trees, stake lighting around beds and red Xmas light crosses with rope lighting framing them.   Ken’s daughter, Shelby, got a nice silhouette of her Uncle Daryl.   The second photo is of the two of them working on the rope lighting (yes, Shelby is texting but she worked more than she texted.)  I’d say the finished product was worth the weekends.

Attaching Christmas Lights Using Extension Ladders

Juan is installing Christmas lights at the top of a very tall Plano home today.  The safe way to work on a ladder on this kind of a ladder is to have someone at the foot leaning backwards underneath.  Notice Yanes is pulling the ladder by leaning underneath it instead of holding the ladder by pushing it from the front.  That makes it much easier for him to hold the ladder for a long time plus, by pulling, he is putting all of his weight on the ladder.

Attaching Roof Lights at Dallas Baptist University

My daughter, Shelby, is helping me attach roof lights at Dallas Baptist University.  Since it’s a commercial Christmas light installation, there aren’t any shingles to clip onto so  she’s putting an adhesive onto the edge of the roof.  I’m following her with parapet clips – small plastic wafers that stay permanently on the  roof.  We’ll let them dry and then the next day we’ll be out to slip our shingle tabs onto the clips.  At the end of the season we’ll leave the clips in place and simply slide the tab out from underneath it and box the lights up.

Tree Lights at Dallas Baptist University

20111112-073024.jpg

Lynn and Luis are installing Christmas lights at Dallas Baptist University.   This will be the centerpiece of their Christmas celebration so it has to be done right.  We have already put 300 c9 LED lights which are the lights we use on your roof. Right now Lynn and Luis are installing several thousand c6 LED lights which are about the size of a jalapeno.  When we are done you’ll need sunglasses if you stand near it.  During the celebration the students will hang handmade decorations on it.

Installing Christmas Lights at Dallas Baptist University November 9th, 2013

Our first day of Christmas light installation at Dallas Baptist University. We are installing 32,000 lights on trees and 4,000 lights on building roofs. That’s a lot of lights. It’s a great campus to work at, the students and staff are amazing. Every time I go to a door a student is holding it for me. Usually two or three times a day one of them stops and thanks us for putting in lights for them. They’re quite a group of kids.

Accenting Your Entrance With Christmas Decorations

There are a lot of similarities between decorating a home for Christmas and designing a landscape. In both landscaping and Christmas decorating you should always keep in mind what your purpose is and usually that purpose is to draw the eye toward the front door. There are several ways to accent a front door with Christmas lights. This is a photo of Christmas lights we installed in Plano and we used garland around the arch to give a welcoming feel to guests arriving. Don’t have an arch or your arch is too tall? How about a lit wreath over entrance, light up shrubs on each side of the entrance or use stake lighting?

Need ideas on how to light up your home with Christmas decorations fill in this Contact Us form and we’ll set up an appointment to help.
