Today I wanted to show you one of our favorite plants to use, the Vitex Tree. The Vitex gets a lot of interest and generates a lot of questions at this time of year because of its colorful blooms.
We love the Vitex Tree because it is what I like to call a flame-proof plant. This tree is Texas tough and can handle the summer heat of North Texas. The Vitex Tree does get large (and wide.) It is important to make sure you place it in a space with some space to grow. Beyond that it doesn’t need much maintenance. All you need to do is prune off the suckers it will want to grow at the bottom and leave the top alone to allow it grow into a beautiful shape.
